Swedish Massage

The primary goals of the Swedish massage technique is to relax the entire body. This is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. These common strokes are effleurage (sliding or gliding), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (cross fiber) and vibration/shaking. Swedish massage is helpful in relaxing the mind & body, reducing pain, improve joint stiffness, boost immunity, and improve circulation. It is also exceptionally beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood and decreasing muscle toxins.

Swedish massage is used as an intro to massage therapy (for those who have never had a massage), stress relief, relaxation, releasing cramped or tense muscles.

Health Benefits of Swedish Massage

Swedish massage can help reduce mental stress and anxiety. During the session the body has time to release and relax to improve mental functionality. It helps clear the person’s mind and provides energy that you need to enable you to put things into perspective. This type of massage is known for helping people sleep so you can rest and reset.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. It focuses on stretching fascia. Fascia is a three-dimensional web of connective tissue that surrounds, supports and penetrates all of the muscles, bones, nerves and organs. Deep tissue works through the various layers of connective tissue and muscles down to the deepest layers to change posture and create freedom of movement by releasing adhesions and chronic muscle contracture.

Adhesions and scar tissue can form in muscles due to injury, chronic poor posture, chronic or acute inflammation and repetitive motions. In a Deep tissue massage session, the therapist may use their fingers, thumbs, fists, forearms and elbows to stretch each muscle and fascia layer.

What Else Should I Be Aware During the Deep Tissue Massage Session?

Deep Tissue massage is best for treating stiff, painful trouble spots (like the shoulder and neck).

Hot Stone Massage

Why ear massage is so powerful

One of the main reasons why ear massage (also known is so incredibly powerful is that the skin of the ears themselves are particularly sensitive due to the ear having a great number of nerve endings – specifically the ear lobes.

The ear lobes (lobulus auriculae) contain many nerve endings, and since they are made up of tissue rather than cartilage like the rest of the ear (known as the auricle) they have a large blood supply. This blood supply is thought to be for helping us maintain our balance as well as keeping the rest of the ear cartilage warm, but through massage, the blood supply can be manipulated for the benefit of the whole body.

What is Cupping?

Cupping is where small cups are attached to the skin by creating a vacuum underneath them. This sucks the skin upward into the cup. This causes your skin to rise and redden as your blood vessels expand.

What is Cupping Therapy Used For?

Cupping is used to treat pain, break up muscle knots/scar tissue deep within muscles and connective tissues, and reduce swelling. Cupping can help push out the toxins from the tissues.

In Chinese Medicine cupping is known to improve the flow of qi (your vital life force) and can help treat colds, bronchitis, and even pneumonia.

Can Cupping Cause Bruising?

Yes, cupping can cause bruising of where the cups were placed. Some people may feel a subtle discomfort of where the cups have been vacuumed for a few minutes.

Ear Candling

A form of alternative therapy in which the tapered end of an ear candle is placed in a person's ear while the other end of the candle is lit, in the belief that earwax and other impurities are drawn out of the ear canal by a partial vacuum created by the candle flame.

However many say ear candling is a gentle and natural replacement to ear syringing.

They say that the heat energy from the candle relieves pain and discomfort in the ear.

What To Expect During Your Session

During an Ear Candling session you will lie on the massage table on your side. The tapered end of the candle is gently placed in the ear. The candle is made from spiraled strips of cotton with a bit of bee’s wax to help the burning process. The other end of the candle is lit and the heat from the flame creates a vacuum effect helping to draw out the impurities from the ear into the candle. During the treatment you will receive a gentle massage around the ear to assist with the removal. Ear Candling will take approximately 12-15 minutes per ear.

While the candle is burning down you will normally hear some crackling. When the ear candle is removed from the ear it will get opened up so you can see what got removed. Many clients find this treatment to be extremely relaxing.

Plaster/Yeso Body Wrap

How long do you wear a yeso wrap?

For optimal absorption, the casting applied in a yeso therapy session should stay on for at least four to eight hours, meaning that you can go home after the cast is applied and will take off the cast at home using our provided written instructions for removing the cast properly.
